Health on Your Safari

Your health and safety are our top priorities on every adventure. When preparing for your Safari Holidays Africa, ensure you pack the right Safari Clothes for comfort and protection. Stay healthy with our expert tips on wellness while staying at an Africa Safari Lodge, and enjoy your journey with peace of mind.

It is each guest’s personal responsibility to consult your local GP or health advisory bureau for updated vaccination and health requirements before your safari. We recommend scheduling your vaccinations 4-8 weeks in advance of departure, including the Covid-19 vaccination.

Ensure you receive a stamped certificate from your doctor or a yellow international vaccination card as proof of the required vaccinations.

Malaria precautions are essential. Your local physician can advise on the best course of action, typically including the use of mosquito repellent and wearing long sleeves, trousers, shoes, and socks in the evenings. Most safari accommodations provide mosquito nets, spray, and insect-proof tents. As malaria strains continually evolve, always check with relevant professional bodies for the most current information. For a list of travel clinics worldwide, visit www.istm.org.

Common Travel Issues

Common travel concerns include sunstroke, dehydration, sunburn, and diarrhea. To prevent these, use high-quality sunblock, drink plenty of water, and limit alcohol and caffeine intake. It's advisable to carry rehydration salts, Imodium, Paracetamol, antihistamine cream or tablets, and any personal medication. For food safety, eat only in tourist lodges and camps, and avoid local establishments. Clean drinking water is readily available in safari vehicles and at all lodges and camps throughout your Tanzania safari.
